  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The former Arsenal goalkeeper, who helped the Red Dragons to promotion out of League Two last season, suffered a broken wrist during a meeting with Mansfield on November 9. He was ruled out for several weeks at that stage, with a fractured bone needing to be reset.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Okonkwo is back in light training, having been cleared by medical staff, but will not be rushed into a Wrexham side that has also lost Callum Burton to a season-ending injury. Parkinson will continue to monitor his first-choice keeper’s fitness before any recall is awarded.

  • WHAT PARKINSON SAID

Parkinson told reporters when asked when Wrexham can expect to see Okonkwo back between the sticks, with veteran shot-stopper Mark Howard providing cover for now: “Arthur, he's going to be a while but there's no problem with the bone and the way it's healed which is great. I don't really want to put a [return] date, let's just see how he progresses over the next week or so. Mark's been brilliant.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Parkinson has every right to remain coy, with it important to avoid any more injury setbacks, but Ryan Reynolds, McElhenney and Co. will be eager to see Okonkwo back as early as possible in 2025 as Wrexham take aim at automatic promotion out of League One.
